Turkey is located at the juncture of the near East and Europe. As a result the fashions that developed overtime were often reminiscent of both regional cultures and the fashions that came from both directions. These slippers are slightly colored reddish leather with low sides, pointed toes, and heels. They are decorated and embroidered with green thread wrapped in gold. The wrapped gold thread is common amongst elites and nobility in Turkey. The curved pointed toed slippers are worn by both men and women in Turkey but the styles and designs differ significantly.
