      Visual VETH is software designed to help computing necessary parameters and quantities for cooling greenhouse using evaporative cooling system. Visual VETH is based on a VETH chart (Ventilation-Evaporation-Temperature-Humidity Chart) introduced by Dr. Yoshiaki Mihara in 1980. The VETH chart is convenient for designing evaporative cooling systems for a greenhouse. However, creating a VETH chart is a tedious process requiring knowledge of thermal balance and heat/mass exchange of greenhouse. Furthermore, VETH chart must be recreated for every set of environmental conditions outside greenhouse. For this reason, VETH chart has been only known to a limited group of researchers despite its great potential. This software Visual VETH can create VETH chart automatically, by simply inputting environmental conditions inside and outside the greenhouse, and physical properties of greenhouse. Also, Visual VETH can compute the amount of fog injection necessary to maintain the greenhouse air temperature at a selected set-point air temperature under given environmental conditions. Visual VETH is developed in Dr. Makio Hayashi’s laboratory at Tokai University. English version was developed in collaboration with Dr. Chieri Kubota’s laboratory at the University of Arizona, Controlled Environment Agriculture Center, to make the software available for greenhouse engineers, teachers and students who work with and are interested in controlled environment agriculture worldwide.
